1844. A hoard of over 600
1844 dimes has recently been broken up and the coins are gradually
being released into the market. As a result, the prices of
1844 dimes are declining. Until the market for 1844 dimes has
stabilized, we will not offer any 1844 dimes for sale, nor will we
offer to purchase any. |
|
  |
1844 Dime XF-40. I remember

1858-S Dime PCGS XF-45.
This coin has the details of an AU coin, but was probably graded at
XF-45 because it is toned and without significant lustre. The
1856-S, 1858-S and 1859-S dimes are all difficult to locate in XF
and above and especially so in a PCGS holder.

1863 Dime, AU-58, PCGS

1863 Dime, VG-10, two

I know it's expensive, but try to find another one. |

1864 Dime, F-12, full

  |
1866 Dime PCGS XF-40 business strike,
F-102b with die clashing visible on the reverse, an R6 variety.
A very rare
coin. Definitely the Philadelphia Mint coin because the date
slopes upward left to right, and definitely the business strike
because the upper wheat stalks are joined by a die crack. Its 8,000 business
strike mintage is the second lowest mintage of regular issue dimes
from 1796 thru now!
|
$2,000
|
  |
1866 Dime VG-8 obv. / Good-4 rev.
In an ANACS Good-4 holder, but definitely better than the stickered
grade. Definitely the Philadelphia Mint coin because the date
slopes upward left to right. Compare with the 1866-S Weak S
coin below. A decent specimen of this rare date for those
collectors working on a circulated set of business strikes. |
$900
|
  |
1866 Dime PCGS AG-3. In my opinion, the
coin is Good-4. Rare, rare
coin. Definitely the Philadelphia Mint coin because the date
slopes upward left to right. Compare with the 1866-S Weak S
coin below. Obverse is a little stronger as three letters of
LIBERTY show, reverse has a weak rim. |
$775
|
  |
Illustration of 1866-S,
Weak S. The "S" is very weak "S" but it is
still an 1866-S. Many people, especially non-numismatist
sellers, would mistakenly call this coin an 1866 Philadelphia Mint
dime. Note that the date sloping downward from left to right
identifies the coin as an 1866-S. |

1867 Dime,
PCGS VF-25,
business strike, F-102.
The date position with the left edge of the flag of the "1" under
the space between stripes 8 and 9 of the shield, confirms that this
is the business strike. A rare coin as there were only 6,000
business strikes minted, which is the lowest mintage of regular
issue dimes from 1796 thru now. |

1872-CC Dime, PCGS FR-2.
I think it is close to AG-3,
but it probably got the Fr-2 grade because only the upper half of right "c" of mintmark is visible.
The coin is in a PCGS holder so you don't have to worry about
authenticity. |
